The Critics’ Awards for Theatre in Scotland returned with a live ceremony for the first time since lock down with an event at Tron Theatre, Glasgow. The ceremony began with a minute’s silence in memory of Her Majesty the Queen and members of the Scottish Theatre community who have departed since the last ceremony in 2019.

Click on the link below to see the incredible winners. We would like to once again congratulate them and their fellow nominees for making Scottish Theatre truly awe inspiring.

“The CATS have become an important part of the cultural calendar, honouring not just individual actors but the whole sector.” PAULINE MCLEAN, BBC SCOTLAND

“It’s really powerful what the critics have done – instead of being divided from the artists, it feels like we’re all in this together, which is really important right now.” IAN BROWN, DIRECTOR

A highlight of the Scottish theatre calendar, CATS celebrates the actors, directors, playwrights and other theatre artists who have made the most thrilling contributions of the year.

Previous winners range from David Tennant to Blythe Duff, from Blackbird to Black Watch and from Catherine Wheels to the National Theatre of Scotland. Celebrity guest presenters have included Blythe Duff, Karen Dunbar and Clare Grogan.
